ISDN Layer 3 (Q.931) Call Control

Description: OpenSS7 Project Status ISDN Q.931

Note that it is now possible to select from most of these categories off of the "Related" sidebar menu.

Overview:-

This is the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Q.931 Call Control component of the OpenSS7 stack. This component implements ISDN functions an a STREAMS multiplexing driver.

Originally the OpenSS7 stack only contained SS7 signalling modules; however, the current implementations implement the entire ISDN call control and signalling functions in the kernel in a STREAMS multiplexing driver.

The ISDN STREAMS driver provides a Call Control Interface (CCI).

An additional ISDN management interface is provided to allow for management capabilities.

The ISDN STREAMS driver supports I_LINK and I_PLINK of LAPB Data Link Provider Interface (DLPI) streams providing ISDN Q.921 Data Links under the multiplexing driver.

History:-

The ISDN component was started in January 2003.

Status:-

The ISDN component is in the Testing stage.

Dependencies:-

This component depends on the ISDN Q.921 LAPD or SIGTRAN IUA driver and the Data Link Provider Interface (DLPI).

Design:-

Designs for the ISDN component will be available here.

Documentation:-

Documentation for ISDN will be available here.

The following preliminary manual pages will be available: isdn(4), ISDN driver manpage; cci_isdn(7), ISDN CCI interface manpage; isdn_ioctl(4), ISDN IO Controls; isdn(8), ISDN administration.

Test Results:-

Test results have not yet been released to the public. Test programs and results for Q.930 conformance tests will be available on the OpenSS7 CVS archive in the directory /openss7/strss7/test. The ISDN component test programs and results will be released with the next major release of the strss7 package.

Preliminary PICS and PIXIT Proforma for ISDN will be available here.

References:-

A reference list for the ISDN component can be viewed here.

Code:-

Code has not yet been released to the public. Source code is available on the OpenSS7 CVS archive under the subdirectory strss7/src/modules/isdn. The ISDN component code will be publicly released with the next major release of the strss7 package.

Release Package:-

The Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is an integral part of the OpenSS7 STREAMS ISDN stack and can be found in the isdn sub-directory in the strss7 release code. Please see the Downloads Page for more information.
