Can I use OpenSS7 to make my Asterisk box speak SS7?

No, not yet.

There is a project to make OpenSS7 STREAMS SS7 drivers speak zaptel. See the Asterisk PBX Integration project for more information. But that project is stalled. For all the interest that some have in SS7 working with Asterisk, nobody seems willing to spend any money to accompilish that end.
