Where does the OpenSS7 project stand?

Description: OpenSS7 Frequently Asked Questions #5.

The OpenSS7 project is in production release on many components. What that really means is that we are still working on some code that is really not suitable for public release. What we have done is made the source code available for those that are interested in following the development or in pushing the envelope on our development. See the CVS Archive Page for more information.

Load this code and mess with it at your own peril. The code can still possibly crash your machine and cause you to have to reboot. You may irreparably damage your header files and be unable to recompile your kernel. You may have to reload your system. There is no warranty.

We hope to have the next major release of the stack which is suitable for public consumption around December 2004. If you are interested in becoming a beta tester and help us stabilize the release, please drop us a note at openss7@openss7.org and let us know your intentions.
