System Requirements

Description: OpenSS7 Resources System Requirements.

Current System Requirements are as follows:

  1. Linux PC
  2. Just about any PC will do. Don't try to use a small memory footprint machine; however, 32M of memory should suffice. Most OpenSS7 packages do not use more than about 1M of kernel. Intel architecture is not required. Most packages build on PPC, HPPA and other architectures supported by Linux. Also, the Performance Technologies NexusWare cards running embedded Linux are also supported.

    The following architectures are supported:

    • ix86
    • x86_64
    • ppc (MCP 860)
    • ppc64

The architectures above are the architectures that are available to the project for creating test builds.

  3. Linux 2.4 or 2.6 Kernel
  4. STREAMS 0.7a.4 runs nicely with either 2.4 or 2.6 kernels. We have released 2.4 and 2.6 version of the SCTP and SS7 stacks. These will run on SMP as well. All of the release packages run nicely on the following distributions:

  6. To develop from the CVS archive or to modify and then recompile the sources you will need the following tool chain:
