SS7 MTP Level 3 User Adaptation Layer (M3UA)

This is the SS7 MTP3-User Adaptation Layer (M3UA) component of the OpenSS7 SIGTRAN stack. This component implements the M3UA functions in a STREAMS multiplexing driver.

The M3UA STREAMS driver provides three interfaces: the Message Transfer Part Interface (MTPI), the Network Provider Interface (NPI) and the Transport Provider Interface (TPI).

The M3UA STREAMS driver supports I_LINK and I_PLINK of Message Transfer Part Interface (MTPI) streams providing SS7 MTP Level 3 MTP-SAPs under the driver (SG operation). It also supports I_LINK and I_PLINK of Transport Provider Interface (TPI) streams providing Stream Control Transmission Protoocl (SCTP) or other transport under the driver.

The M3UA component was started in January 2000.

The M3UA component of the OpenSS7 stack is in the Testing stage, however, it has been rewritten on a number of occasions.

This component depends on the SS7 MTP Level 3 Message Transfer Part Interface (MTPI) and Transport Provider Interface (TPI) access to the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) or other transports.
