Message Transfer Part (MTP) Level 3

This is the Signalling System No. 7 (SS7) Message Transfer Part (MTP) Level 3 (MTP3) component of the OpenSS7 SS7 stack. This component implements the MTP Level 3 functions in a STREAMS multiplexing driver.

The MTP3 STREAMS driver provides three user-level interfaces: the Message Transfer Part Interface (MTPI), the Network Provider Interface (NPI) and the Transport Provider Interface (TPI).

The MTP3 STREAMS driver supports I_LINK and I_PLINK of Signalling Link Interface (SLI) streams providing SS7 MTP Level 2 signalling links under the multiplexing driver.

The MTP3 component was started in 1996. Current STREAMS based approaches were started in January 2000.

The MTP3 component of the OpenSS7 stack is in the Maintenance stage.

Dependencies are not yet publicly available.

Code has not yet been released to the public. Source code is available in the CVS Archive under the subdirectory openss7/strss7/src/modules/mtp. The MTP component code will be publicly released with the next major release of the strss7 package.
